World's top 10 largest planetary moons
1)jupiter/Ganymede.
In january 1610 this was discovered by galileo.Ganymede is thought to have a surface of ice about 97 km (60miles) thick. Launched in 1989, NASA 's Galielo probe reached Ganymede in june 1996.
2) Satrun/Titan
This is larger than mercury and pluto .No one have idea what its surface looks like becoz it has such a dense atmosphere but radio telescope observation suggests that it may have ethane ocean and continents of ice or other solid matter.
3)Jupiter/callisto
This moon possesses a similar compositions to ganymede. Callisto is heavily pitted with crater perhaps more so than other body in solar system.
4)Io/jupiter .
This has a crust of solid sulphur with massive volcanic eruption in progress hurling sulphorous material 300 km (186miles )into space.
5)Moon /earth
Earth own satellite is a quarter of the size of earth.it is the fifth largest in the solar system and to date the only one to have been explored by humans.

Though europa's ice covered surface is smooth and crater free it is covered with mysterious black lines aome of them 63km (40miles) wide and resembling canals.

This is supposd to getting progressively closer to neptune and it is believed that in several million years the force of the planet's gravity may pull it apart.scattering it into a form like the ring of saturn.

Titania was discovered by william Herschel on january 11th 1787.it is uranus
Largest moon it has snow ball like surface of ice .its size estimate was revised by data from voyager 2
9) Rhea/ saturn
This was discovered by jean dominique cassini in 1672.this is saturn's 2nd largest moon . Voyager 1 confirmed that its icy surface is pitted with crater one of them 225km(140miles) in diameter.
10) oberon /uranus .
This moon was discovered by Herschel at the time as titania and given the name of the fairy king husband of queen titania .Data from voyager 2 relegated oberon from 9th to 10 th place in this list.
